Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at juliabolinojames66@hoe.london if you cannot find an answer to your question.

I usually start with an informal chat to see what you want to achieve in your new garden.

I will then follow up with my proposal.

If we both agree to move forward, then I will take a site survey and draw up some concept plans for the new space.

We will work through these to find the one that works for you and once approved I will draw up the masterplan for landscapers to quote; typically two to three contractors and I can recommend companies that I have worked with in the past.

Once you have approved the contractor and agreed terms, it's down to arranging a start date that works for you.

During the work, I will visit the site as it progresses to make sure our design is being delivered.

Nearing the completion of these works, I will present a detailed planting plan for approval after which I will place orders and coordinate delivery and planting.

Yes.  I have several companies that I use regularly for quality and choice of products.

I believe that the garden isn't just the landscaping and the planting but also those areas where we pause and rest.

The overall look is very important to me.

I charge a set fee for my designs, time and sourcing which are all transparent in the proposal.  This fee is dependent on the size of the project and its overall cost.

A tricky one to answer!

It is probably best compared to asking "How much does a kitchen cost"

Off the shelf - cheap - to bespoke - expensive.

A garden is the same, it depends on the contractor, the landscaping materials  you choose, the detailing, the plants, the lighting, the garden buildings and furniture.

Good lighting can really take a garden to another level.  I have worked with several very good lighting companies that I can recommend.

However, it is worth bearing in mind that the garden lighting would be a separate quote from the main garden design and build.

Good question!  A garden is an investment and needs proper care and maintenance .

If you are not keen on gardening or just don't have the time, then you will need to hire a gardener to maintain your beautiful new space.

A garden is an organic room and is always changing it will need care to help it survive and thrive.

Please also factor this into ongoing costs.

A well designed garden can give you immense pleasure and a sense of well being .

That alone is worth the investment, however, in a post pandemic world, gardens have gained an elevated place in peoples' hearts and as such are now adding substantial value to a home.
